A Pretty Good Day

Today we had a nice surprise in the mail. We got a cheque (that's check if you're American) from our insurance company. Remember that fender bender I had in December? Click here for the story...

Anyways, the cheque was for the deductible that we had to pay. I was upset about the fact that even though it wasn't our fault, we were stuck with the $250 bill. But soon after, when I accepted it as just a part of life, I forgot about it and just figured, we'd make due. So it was a nice surprise to get that in mail. God provides even when we least expect it.

Another part of the day that was good was that Makiko (she lives in the courtyard too) came by and asked if I would be willing to teach her daughter, Skiki piano lessons. I am thrilled and excited about the possibility to teach music again. We'll have to talk it over and figure out when it would work etc.

While I was talking with Makiko, she kept apologizing that her English wasn't too good, and then I said to her, well my Japanese is horrible! We both laughed and then she told me that Joel really surprised her today. She had asked Soh (her son) where his little brother was in Japanese and before Soh could respond, Joel said in English, "He's out back Mrs. Tanaka". What!? My boy is learning Japanese, and it's no wonder since the Tanaka house is a second home for him.

I'm thankfully for one more thing. For the last few days, Asha and I have been suffering from allergies but thankfully last night it rained and so the pollen and smog in the air have been washed away. When we both woke up this morning, our runny noses had dried up!

And the last thing that makes today a good day was that Carl told me he's just finished page 60 on the thesis.

It's great to have good days like this.

Sounds like you've had a few, what Beth Moore calls 'God stops' today... God's way of showing you that He is in control and that He really cares about you( and the fact that there is no such thing as luck).
How cute to hear that Joel is starting to understand another language. really quite amazing really.
Sorry about the question...i should know(Kris didn't have to write a thesis) but how long is Carl's suppose to be???Mason's was a thick book.is there a page range, page limit, etc??? Carl's topic is such a deep one...i just can't wait to read it.
