Leaving - Days 3 & 4

After Joel's puking incident in the middle of the night, he went back to sleep and was fine in the morning. We figured since he had a bad cold, the puking was probably caused by the phlegm in his stomach.

The next day was a relaxing day with Curtis and Deneen and the kids. Curtis was at work, so Carl putzed around all day (he was so glad for that; it's been months since he's had a free day just to putter). I visited with Deneen, Kezia and Sharaya played dress up all day and Joel, Ashton and Caiden played pirates outside. It was a wonderful day.

In the evening, Deneen and Sharaya, Kezia and myself all went to a church girls wind up party. There were only 3 other girls besides us, but it was a nice time. Even though Kezia was 7 years younger, the older girls were so gracious to include her. The party was hosted by Deneen's pastor and it was crazy as we talked and got to know each other how Suzanne and I knew many of the same people. Just shows you that the world is really a small place.

The highlight of the evening was the chocolate fountain. The girls dripped chocolate all over, Kezia's face was a sticky brown mess and her dress was splotched with chocolate...and she was in heaven. What a great evening!

That night we visited with Curtis and Deneen until 1:30 in the morning. I slept really well and didn't have any child up puking. And I was only up twice with Asha. Funny how our standards of a good night's sleep change once you become a parent. The next morning we had a leisurely brunch and then headed on the road again. The destination - 108 Mile Ranch.

The 6 hour drive was very scenic and the kids slept for half of the ride. Carl and I enjoyed the beautiful mountains, the trees, the tiny glimpses of blue sky. By now I was really feeling like I'd rather be in 35 degree weather. I packed like I was holidaying in California and not moving back to Canada.

We arrived at Chris and Maegan's for dinner and had a lovely meal of fish, rice and broccoli. The kids were happy to be outside playing but we were all tired and so no one stayed up too late. I was so excited because Joel and Kezia were in one room, Carl and I in another, and Asha in a third. I get my own room!? My own room! Yeah!

I'm sorry...did you say anything after 'chocolate fountain'?

If you did -- I missed it!
