Two Wheeler Joel

Last week Joel hit the side of a wall with his training wheel and so the rubber portion of the wheel came off. What was left was the plastic hub that dragged on the ground. Joel was quite annoyed with it but still wanted to ride his bike. So he learned how to balance without the broken wheel touching the ground. Everyone in the court noticed how he wasn't using his training wheels anymore and would come by and say to Carl, "You should take them off, Joel can totally ride without them!". And so yesterday Carl took them off. Nate and Maddy, Ben and Alisa, Lucas and Rachel, Matt and Tia, and Matt were all outside watching this momentous occassion. Everyone held their breath as Joel pushed off and as he rode out without the training wheels the whole courtyard errupted in cheers. He was so proud of himself. Our boy is growing up.

We figured it wouldn't take long for the first wipe out. Joel skinned his chin pretty good, but after we cleaned him up, wanted to get back on the bike. We don't expect Joel inside until March or so, except for for meals, sleeping and bathroom breaks!
